Spirulina is the common name primarily from two species of cyanobacteria: Arthrospira platensis, and Arthrospira maxima. Spirulina also contains many different minerals, including calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, sodium, zinc, and large amounts of potassium.
